Name Jessie Ford :: Graphic DesignerAbout Hello there! I'm Jessie Ford, a designer from the Buckeye State who loves and appreciates design in all of its forms. I find good design in literally anything — from billboards to CD covers, wallpaper to restaurant menus, greeting cards to magazines — I am obsessed with the relationships that can be formed between images and type, color and space, lines and graphics. When I was a very young girl, I would write, design and illustrate books and magazines for my family, made from construction paper, staples, ribbon and even hay baling twine. Now, many years later and after a college degree, I have developed that passion for visual storytelling into a professional career in graphic/communication design. I graduated cum laude from Ohio University's Scripps College of Communication in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Visual Communication. My major was publication design, my minor was general art and I had a major specialization focus in magazine journalism. I absolutely loved being a Bobcat, the four years I lived in the picture-perfect college town of Athens (there is no place like it!) and have now taken what I learned in its classrooms, to create a foundation for my professional career to grow from. During and after college, I started off my professional work experiences via design internships with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (the parent company of what is now Nationwide Insurance) and the Columbus Blue Jackets, a National Hockey League (NHL) pro team. I also have contractor/design experience working for a marketing firm, university and lifestyle magazine. Currently, I am fortunate enough to get to combine two of my loves, design and agriculture, at my day job. It feels wonderful to return to my rural roots, creating work for and helping to communicate messages within such a huge and powerful industry. Those rural roots I mention above stem from the active lifestyle I have outside of work/design. I grew up as a competitive barrel racer and love to show quarter horses on a national level. I spend a lot of time traveling up and down the road with them, my favorite season is summer, I love photos, movies, all kinds of music, rodeo, being with my family and friends, road trips and college basketball — I'm a huge Ohio State fan! |
